So for Halloween, my residence hall puts on "Trick-or-Treat Street" where local kids can come trick-or-treat in our hallways instead of in their (unsafe) neighboorhoods. Plus, we're climate controlled.

My suitemates and I dressed up as old women, complete with mu-mus and bath robes and slippers and shower caps. Alicia is a theater major and so she knew how to put "age" on us with her handy-dandy stage makeup. We covered the suite in that fake cobweb stuff and made it so that it looked like we hadn't dusted in years. We hobbled around to pass out candy and Alicia made sure to tell the kids not to talk to strangers. People really thought it was cute! One girl from the suite next to us came out of her door (presumably at the urging of her friends), looked at us sitting there with curlers in our hair, shouting at Wheel-of-Fortune, and turned back to her friends, saying, "Why didn't we do that?" Plus we could always hear people in the hallways saying things like "I like the old ladies."

It was nice to actually do something for Halloween. It's nice that we could have costumes that were interesting without being either too scary or too sexy. Plus, we already knit and crochet and drink tea. We're already little old ladies in training.
