October 24, 2004 - 11:41 p.m. So this weekend was probably the best one I've had so far. Afterward, Nyssa, Rebecca, and I cleaned the suite, particularly the bathroom. So it looks all pretty now. We went to the health food store where I got some 5-HTP and the drug store where I finally found some sudafed. Oklahoma has a really dumb law where they have to take down your name, driver's license number, date of birth, etc. before you can purchase anything with pseudophedrine in it. Supposedly, Oklahoma has the highest number of meth labs per capita. Then we went over to SuperTarget to pick up some other stuff. It seems that we never have everything we need at once. I'm always forgetting something. Fortunately, we also looked at clothes and I bought 3 shirts that are good for the between hot and cold part of fall that is so hard to dress for. We met up with Spencer for dinner and then he took us to Bartlesville for a show at the cutest little club/organic restaurant. Apparently the lead singer works with Spencer and made a shoutout to him, commenting that he was the only guy who came with three chicks. I love it. After the show, Nyssa headed off to bed and Rebecca and I ended up talking in Spencer's room until 3:30. Spencer dozed off around 2 I'm guessing, but we didn't really care. And today Rebecca and I went to First Pres downtown. She said she hasn't been to church so formal or so large, so it was interesting for her. I'm intrigued by the number of Sunday School classes and other things that they offer that John Knox doesn't. And Stephen from my honors class was there too; I didn't know that he was Presbyterian, and maybe he's not. I didn't get a chance to talk to him; he's pretty quiet. Later, Spencer and his friend Brian and I went to the gun show. Yep, I voluntarily went to a gun show. I rather enjoyed myself. Remind me to tell Spencer my gun story from Brown. On the way home, Jackie called and I got a delightful opportunity to catch up with her. I'm so horrible about keeping in touch, and I hate that. But I have major difficulty picking up the phone and calling people. I'm always worried about timing and people being busy, but Jackie is in college. She is awake pretty much all the time like I am, so I shouldn't worry. Once again, I'll try to be better; I want to be better. Gah, after all that, I reached "social exhaustion" and crashed until dinner time. Then we were royally beaten by the KKG's at volleyball. But we expected that. And so I came back and read part of Plato's Republic and bought an NRSV Bible off of amazon.com (man, I love freedom) and now I'm writing out all the details of my uber-cool weekend. I know this is a lot of boring detail, but I really enjoyed myself. And you notice that I did pretty much no schoolwork. I needed the break. I've got tests at the end of the week and a paper due a week from tomorrow, so I thought I'd stock up on my RnR. Even still, doesn't this sound like a totally rockin' weekend? |
